Coal Scam: CBI Special Court grants bail to Dasari
May 22nd, 2015, 12:30 PM ISTSenior director and former Union Minister for Coal, Dasari Narayana Rao, has been granted bail by the CBI's Special Court (Patiala House Court) in New Delhi today in the Amarkonda Murgadangal (Jharkand) coal block allocation scam. The court also granted bail to all the accused on a personal bond of 1 lakh, until the further hearing on 1st June. The special court has also directed the accused not to leave the country without prior permission.
It is well known that Naveen Jindal of Jindal Group had assured the Chattisgarh's former CM Madhu Koda of Congress' support if he allocates the Amarconda Murgadangal Coal Mines to his group of companies. The CBI Special Court included Dasari and 12 others names in the charge sheet and stated that Jindal influenced the state and central governments to avail the benefits in coal allocation.
On April 29th, the CBI filed a charge sheet on 14 members including Dasari and 5 companies that were involved in the coal scam. Dasari, along with 13 other accused will be presenting themselves after the Special Court directed all the accused to attend the court for further questioning today. However, Dasari maintains that he is innocent and that he was made a scapegoat to protect some kingpins.
